Christmas Lecture: In the Footsteps of Wren

The 2025 lecture will be given by Rebecca Thompson, Director of Property at St Paul’s Cathedral. The lecture will be held at the Wren Suite, St Paul’s Cathedral on 8th December at 6pm.

About the Event

Rebecca Thompson, Director of Property for St Paul’s Cathedral, will speak on the challenges of overseeing such a complex heritage and working building, that is always open to the public. There is a need for highly skilled craftspeople, and St Paul’s is addressing this directly, through its apprenticeships and training schemes for heritage crafts.

At the talk we will hear about the next major projects at St Paul’s, which include the construction of The Wren International Centre of Excellence, to improve accessibility to skills in the built environment; the restoration of the Dome Ball and Cross, a once in a generation project to carry out essential conservation and improve access; and the external lighting project in partnership with the City of London Corporation to transform the evening setting of the cathedral and improve the heritage setting and experience for residents and visitors to London. This forms part of a 15 year plan of works.
