Have you visited an amazing heritage site recently or snapped an image of traditional craft or living heritage traditions? Why not enter our competition? Winners will receive a unique limited edition art print as well as a year’s membership for ICOMOS and all shortlisted images will go on display in the gallery at our Cowcross Street offices.
‘Heritage at Risk: a Global Perspective’ – ICOMOS-UK Photography Competition
To commemorate the 60th anniversary of ICOMOS, this photography competition seeks to highlight and raise awareness of heritage sites around the globe that are at risk or vulnerable. The competition will spotlight these precious sites, emphasizing the urgent need for preservation and the role of ICOMOS in advocating for their protection.
The competition is looking for photographs that capture the theme: ‘Heritage at Risk: A Global Perspective’. We invite photographers to capture images that showcase the beauty and fragility of world heritage and other significant heritage sites that are exposed to risks such as environmental threats, neglect, or socio-political conflicts. The focus could be on illuminating these sites’ vulnerabilities and the efforts needed to safeguard them.
Photographs may include, but are not limited to, World Heritage Sites and lesser-known heritage sites that are at risk. Sites can be located anywhere around the world. Participants are encouraged to explore the interplay of natural beauty, historical significance, and the looming threats that these sites face. The images should not only document but also tell a compelling story of heritage under threat.
